Invisible Red String
According to eastern cultures, the invisible red string symbolises the connection between two individuals who are destined to be together. Using this motif of connection, the work suggests that we are all connected by experiences of mental health we don’t enclose and keep invisible. Although each persons journey is unique and their emotions individual, we have a connected understanding and sympathy that isn’t addressed in our society enough.
Whilst the string may become strained, taught or tangled, it never breaks. Never gives up. Because there is someone holding the other end. The work aims to address the need for support and realisation that we are all interlinked.
